About

Mary MacGregor

Hi! I’m Mary. Language is my passion, and I’m even more passionate about helping people perfect theirs.

I started out studying French at the University of Edinburgh, but it was my “outside subject” which really captured my interest – English Language. After completing my dissertation in English as a lingua franca and graduating with an MA from the University of Edinburgh, I have been working within this field: as an ESL teacher, developer of teaching materials and corporate training programs and carrying out further development workshops in my position as manager of pedagogy in three different branches of the world’s leading language schools.

My move to proofreading began in 2015, with the leap to full-time in 2017. Since then, while working through my course from the Publishing Training Centre, I have proofread fiction for self-publishers as well as articles, presentations, CVs, internal communications and contracts for several companies and individuals around my home in the picturesque south of Germany.

When I’m not proofreading, you’ll find me practising yoga, sewing myself an impractically colourful dress, or cycling or kayaking somewhere in the Altmühltal national park. I write a personal blog about most of this, which you can read here.
